NIA Files Chargesheet Against 4 JeM Operatives, Says They Planned Terror Attacks Across India

New Delhi, September 17: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a charge sheet against four operatives of Pakistan-based terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) for planning terror attacks in different parts of India including Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR). In its chargesheet filed before a special court, the NIA named four JeM terrorists including Sajjad Ahmad Khan, 27, Tanveer Ahmed Ganie, 29, Bilal Ahmad Mir, 23, and Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat, 25. Khan is a close aide of February 14 Pulwama attack mastermind Mudassir Ahmad Khan and is also suspected to be involved in the Pulwama attack in which 40 CRPF were martyred. The NIA had filed a case in the matter on March 15 based on certain information regarding criminal conspiracy being hatched by senior JeM commanders to carry out terror attacks in different parts of India including Delhi-NCR.
Reports inform that Mudassir Khan, who was the mastermind behind the attack, was killed in an encounter with security forces. The NIA informed that he was killed in a shootout with security forces at Pinglish village in Jammu and Kashmir's Tral town on the intervening night of March 9-10, charges against him have abated.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, Sajjad Khan and Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat were directly in touch with Mudassir Khan. The investigative agency said that Ganie and Mir wanted to carry out fidayeen attacks similar to the Pulwama bombing. The report further informs that the two elder brothers of Sajjad Ahmad Khan were also active JeM terrorists. The NIA informed that both of them were killed in two different encounters with security forces. Thereafter, Sajjad joined JeM and was directed to conduct reconnaissance in Delhi-NCR area.
