NIA Conducts Searches at Seven Places in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab in Connection With ISIS Terror Module

Lucknow, January 17: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday said that searches are being conducted at seven places in North India in connection with the ISIS-inspired terror module case. According to a tweet by ANI, the NIA is conducting searches in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab on the recently registered case of ISIS-inspired module. Reports inform that the raids are in connection with a new Islamic State (IS) module styled as Harkat ul Harb-e-Islam, NIA spokesperson Alok Mittal informed. On January 12, the Delhi court sent a man to six-day NIA remand in connection with the probe against an ISIS-inspired group allegedly planning suicide attacks. The man was arrested by NIA from UP in connection with the serial blasts targeting politicians and government installations in Delhi and other parts of north India. According to a PTI report, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Dharmender Singh sent 24-year-old Muhammed Absar to six-day remand. The NIA has so far arrested 12 people in connection with the case. In a separate incident, the Delhi court earlier this month sent to judicial custody two people, who were arrested on suspicion of being members of an ISIS-inspired group and for planning terror attacks across the country. According to a report by PTI, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Dharmender Singh sent Mufti Mohammed Suhail alias Hazrath (29) and Saqib Iftekar (26) to judicial custody till January 22.
