NGO Manager Taught Girls How to Have Sex at Muzaffarpur Shelter Home: CBI
Terming Madhu Kumari's arrest as a big catch, the CBI said she used to teach girls how to have sex.
New Delhi, November 20: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday said it arrested Madhu Kumari aka Saista Praveen, manager of the NGO that was running a shelter home in Bihar's Muzaffarpur where girls were sexually assaulted. Terming Madhu Kumari's arrest as a big catch, the CBI said she used to teach girls how to have sex and dance on vulgar songs. Kumari, however, claimed innocence.
Kumari, who is said to be a close aide of the main accused Brajesh Thakur, was allegedly preparing girls at the shelter home for their first sexual intercourse, the CBI alleged. She also trained them for dancing on songs with vulgar lyrics, the agency said. Kumari, a resident of Chaturbhuj Sthan, a red light area in Muzaffarpur, had been working with Thakur's NGO as a social worker since 2001. She resigned on August 8 following allegations that Thakor had links with her husband Chandrasekhar Verma.
Of the 42 girls lodged at the short-stay home run by Thakur's NGO, 34 were found to have been sexually assaulted. The crime came to light after a social audit by the Tata Institute of Social Science, Mumbai. The shelter home has been sealed, and Thankur is now in the Muzaffarpur jail.
