Vadodara, December 27: The Vadodara Police on Wednesday released a notification listing out dos and don'ts to be followed during celebrations for the New Year. The notification not only bans intoxicating drinks and indecent behaviour in the public but also says New Year celebrations "have an adverse effect on children and the Sanskari (well-cultured) society".
The notification, which is issued by Vadodara Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Ghalaut, said prior permission is mandatory for organising an event for the New Year and 1000 police personnel, including more than 150 female cops, will be deployed to keep a tab on activities. "Every year, under the pretext of celebrations for December 31 to welcome the new year, anti-social elements, either by themselves or through people known to them organise various kinds of parties. During such parties, the celebrations include consumption of intoxicating drinks, indulging in indecent behaviour or posture," the notification stated.
"Such kind of celebrations has an adverse effect on children and the sanskari (well-cultured) society," the notification further reads. It has mandated the organisers to install CCTV cameras on the premises of any party venue. Use of loudspeakers has been prohibited in open spaces after 10 pm.
The notification also states that firecrackers should be burst in such a way that no one in the neighbourhood is disturbed. Those who will violate the directives will be punishable under Section 131 of the Gujarat Police Act, it added.
