New Delhi, April 26: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will shortly introduce a new Rs 20 note. The RBI on Friday, April 26, said that new Rs 20 note will be issued in a "greenish yellow colour" colour. The new note will be having a motif of Ellora Caves on the reverse, depicting India's cultural heritage. These new notes will be bearing the signature of RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das. In an official statement, the central bank, said that “the new denomination has a motif of Ellora Caves on the reverse, depicting the country’s cultural heritage. All the banknotes in the denomination of Rs 20 issued by the Reserve Bank in the earlier series will continue to be legal tender." Apart from the motif of Ellora caves, the Rs 20 note would also carry common features like a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi, RBI governor’s signature, Swachh Bharat logo, the Ashoka pillar electrotype 20 watermarks, among others. After the Demonetisation in 2016, the RBI has rolled out fancy currency notes with new designs for all denominations.
