Mumbai, July 17: The Reserve Bank of India will release a new Rs 100 note in August. The colour of the new note will be violet. According to media reports, the note will bear the image of Gujarat's Rani Ki Vav. Reports also say that the size of the new notes will be smaller than the  current Rs 100 note.

The printing of the new notes have begun in Dewas and reports say that the old notes will continue in circulation. The printing press that has given design to the new notes is the press where the Rs 2000 notes were printed.

Media reports also mention that the ink and the paper used in the printing of the news notes will not be imported as they will be from India.

The report also brings to light the fact that changes will have to be made to the ATMs to accomodate the new Rs 100 notes. Similar changes had to be made when new Rs 500 and Rs 200 notes were released.
