New Delhi, Aug 21: The Centre on Tuesday appointed new Governors for 7 states - Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Tripura, Sikkim and Meghalaya. Below is the list of the new appointees and the incumbents replaced by them.

Jammu & Kashmir: Satya Pal Malik, who is currently the Governor of Bihar, has been deputed to J&K. The 71-year-old replaces NN Vohra, who has been serving as the Governor of the insurgency-hit state since 2008.

Bihar: 83-year-old Lalji Tandon has been appointed as the new Governor of Bihar, replacing Satya Pal Malik who has been deputed to Jammu & Kashmir by the Centre.

Uttarakhand: Baby Rani Maurya, a former legislator of the BJP in Uttar Pradesh, has been appointed as the new Governor, replacing the incumbent, Dr Krishan Kant Paul.

Meghalaya: Tathagata Roy, an RSS ideologue and incumbent Governor of Tripura, has been deputed to Meghalaya. His appointment to the neighbouring north-eastern state brings an end to the tenure of incumbent Governor Ganga Prasad, who was appointed in October last year.

Haryana: Former BJP leader and Bihar cabinet minister, Satyadev Narayan Arya, has been appointed as the Governor of Haryana. The incumbent Governor in the state is Kaptan Singh Solanki, who has now been deputed to Tripura.

Tripura: Incumbent Governor Tathagata Roy has been replaced by Kaptan Singh Solanki. Roy has been assigned the charge of neighbouring Meghalaya.

Sikkim: Ganga Prasad, who was appointed as the Governor of Meghalaya last year, has not been assigned the charge of neighbouring Sikkim. His appointment ends the tenure of incumbent Governor Shriniwas Patil.
