Kota, December 24: A 17-year-old girl preparing for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) committed suicide on Monday by hanging herself in India’s coaching hub Kota, said police taking the count of suicide in Kota to 18 this year. According to police, the girl, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Kushinagar, was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her hostel in Adarsh Nagar on Sunday evening, reported Hindustan TimesRajasthan: 17-Year-Old Student Stabbed To Death in Kota Over Brawl In Cricket.

During investigations, a suicide note was found in which she urged the hostel warden to reveal her illness as a cause of her death. Police have informed that the teenager, studying in 12th, had arrived in Kota around six months ago and was taking coaching for the medical exam, NEET. Every year nearly two lakh students arrive in Kota from different parts of India to take coaching for engineering and medical entrance examinations. According to data, 58 students in Kota had committed suicide between 2013 and 2017. A report by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) says that parental pressure, stress, depression, love affairs and emotional issues are the main reason behind suicides.
