Kota, May 1: On Tuesday, April 30, a 21-year-old student preparing for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) was discovered dead inside his room in Rajasthan’s Kota. According to the police, a suicide letter was also recovered from his room, which read, “I'm sorry, Papa. Main iss saal bhi nahi kar paya (I couldn't do it this year either).” The coaching student has been identified as Bharat Rajput, a resident of the Dholpur region of Rajasthan. The latter was residing in a paying guest (PG) accommodation with his nephew in Kota's Jawahar Nagar neighbourhood.
Bharat appeared "quite stressed out" throughout the exam, which would have been his third try at the NEET. His parents have been informed about the incident, and they are on their way to Kota, an official familiar with the case told the Indian Express. According to the police, the incident took place at around 10:30 in the morning when his nephew had gone to the market. Bharat and his nephew have been residing in the same PG flat for over a year. However, when the latter returned, Bharat did not respond even though his nephew kept knocking on the door. Later, the landlord was contacted. This comes just two days after the suicide death of another student in Kota who was preparing for the medical entrance exam. For the unversed, the NEET undergraduate test will be conducted across various centres in the country on May 5.
