New Delhi, November 25: Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu has accepted the invitation of Pakistan to attend the groundbreaking ceremony of the Kartarpur corridor. Sidhu in his official letter to Pakistan Foreign Affairs Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi confirmed the attending of historic occasion and said he is waiting for a permission from Ministry of external affairs to attend the event. Sindhu in his letter further mentioned that Kartarpur spirit will make us all, venturing out on in a journey that breaks the barriers of history and open borders of heart and mind.

Earlier, speaking to the media in Ludhiana, veteran cricketer's wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu said, "In my opinion, he should certainly go. Last time also his friend had called, and this time also his friend has invited him. Currently, he is very busy with election rallies. It is by Lord's grace that he has been given this opportunity to touch that pious land." The Pakistan Government on Saturday extended their invitation to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Kartarpur corridor on November 28. However, Sushma Swaraj cited her inability to attend the event saying that she has “prior commitments". While, Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh declined the invitation citing continued terrorist attacks in his state and killings of Indian soldiers by Pakistan armed forces.
It is reported that Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate the groundbreaking ceremony of the facilities at the crossing on the Pakistan side on November 28.
