Navi Mumbai, May 1: In a shocking incident in Navi Mumbai, a man from Uttar Pradesh was allegedly assaulted and pushed off the local train on April 26. The victim, identified as Kumar Lalji Diwakar, reportedly lost his right hand and suffered a leg fracture in the incident. A father of four, Diwakar was assaulted and thrown off the local train by four men after he boarded the train at Nerul.
According to a report in the Hindustan Times, the alleged incident occurred on April 26, when Diwakar was trying to board a crowded local train from Nerul to Uran in the evening. A railway official said that when the train was leaving the platform an Nerul station, Diwakar pushed himself into the crowded compartment. Four Commuters Gang Up Against Diwakar
This angered four commuters, who then ganged up on Diwakar. Although Diwakar apologised, the four commuters allegedly assaulted him, and one of them even knifed him before throwing him out of the train's compartment. Soon after Diwaker fell on the tracks, the train ran over his right hand. The UP native also suffered a broken leg.
Victim Found Lying on Railway Track
The incident came to light when railway officials found him lying on the track and rushed him to NMMC Hospital in Vashi. Later, he was transferred to JJ Hospital before being brought to Sion Hospital. A doctor at the hospital said that Diwakar was stable, but his injured hand had to be amputated. Once discharged, the police will show him the CCTV footage to identify the accused. Sachin Kumar, Diwakar's relative, said that Diwakar arrived in the city a week ago and secured a job at a laundry in Ulwe.
