Mumbai, January 3: An incident occurred in Ghansoli where two Airtel engineers were allegedly thrashed by Aman Mittal, a deputy secretary of the state water supply and sanitation department, and his brother Devesh who were upset over disruption in Wifi signal at their home. The engineers, Bhushan Gujar and Sagar Mandhare, had arrived at the Mittal residence to repair an internet router.

An FIR has been lodged against the Mittal brothers at Rabale police station in Navi Mumbai, reported Hindustan Times. The alleged assault was captured on CCTV. The police have yet to make any arrests. Bhushan Gujar, one of the victims, explained that the Mittals had requested a router installation on December 30. After the installation, the Mittals complained about the connection and allegedly began to verbally and physically assault the engineers. Aman Mittal, who previously served as the municipal commissioner of Latur and collector of Jalgaon district, responded to the allegations by referring to a cross-complaint and then ended the call. According to his FIR, the family had paid Rs 5232 for a WiFi connection that was not working. He alleges that the engineers verbally abused him and physically attacked him.

Senior Inspector Rajendra Kote Patil of Rabale police station confirmed that the Airtel engineers were severely beaten. The police have issued notices to the Mittal brothers for an inquiry and are investigating the case.
