Mumbai, July 17: Heavy rains lashed parts of Mumbai affecting traffic at various intersections and causing waterlogging in several areas. Amid heavy rainfall in the city, locals in Navi Mumbai area rescued a drowning family on Monday. According to a tweet by ANI, the locals pulled a family using a rope after the family's car was submerged in water, in Navi Mumbai's Taloja.

Potholes in Mumbai have brought traffic almost to a halt in the recent past while flooded streets, water on railway tracks are a regular feature during the monsoon season.
Reports inform that in Vasai/Virar, on the outskirts of the city, flooding lasted for over four days, making it difficult for residents to survive without electricity or food. Meanwhile, heavy rains flooded low-lying areas of Parel, Dharavi, Matunga and King's Circle in Mumbai and towns in the neighbouring Thane district, including Diva, Dombivali, Kalyan and Ambernath.
