Navi Mumbai, November 9: A man poured kerosene on himself and threatened to commit suicide when he and his won were fined for not wearing face masks. The incident took place in Navi Mumbai's New Panvel on November 4. According to a report, a civic sanitary inspector of the Panvel municipal corporation imposed a fine of Rs 500 on the father-son duo for roaming without masks. Sanitary inspector Ajinkya Halade and his supervisor Sandeep Kamble were patrolling in Sector 6 to ensure people are wearing face masks in public places and shops. They found Aman bakery owner Asif Siddiqui and his son Aman (19) without face masks on. Subsequently, the officials imposed a fine of Rs 500 on them, which they refused to accept. While Aman allegedly argued with Halade and Kamble, Siddiqui got angry and allegedly poured kerosene on himself and threatened to end his life, Times Of India reported. The Khandeshwar police registered a case against Aman and Siddiqui.
