New Delhi, January 23: The Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW) shortlisted 22 children, including 10 girls and 12 boys for the National Bravery Award this year. The bravery awards will be given to these kids on Republic Day, January 26, 2020. The children are selected from 12 different states of India. Among the among those who have been chosen for the National Bravery Award this year, two boys are from Jammu and Kashmir. Two Jammu and Kashmir Youths Among National Bravery Awardees.

Here is The List of Award Winners:

Muhammed Muhsin – 16-year-old Muhsin, who hails from Kerala’s Kozhikide, drowned while saving three of his friends in the rough sea in April last year. He has been chosen for the ICCW Abhimanyu Award posthumously.

Sartaj Mohidin Mugal (16) from Kupwara & and Mudasir Ashraf (19) from Budgam are among the awardees for performing acts of valour in Kashmir in 2019. Ashraf tried to save Kifayat Hussain who caught fire when IAF’s Mi-17 helicopter crashed in Budgam in February, 2019.

Carolyn Malsawmtluangi – 11-year-old Malsawmtluangi belongs to Mizoram. With her presence of mind she saved a kid from being kidnapped.

Kamal Krishna Das – Das in September 2018 jumped into the flooded Brahmaputra river to save his mother, aunt and a stranger.

Venkatesh – 12-year-old Venkatesh hails from Karnataka. He guided an ambulance carrying a body and relatives of the dead, during the floods last August.

Srimati Badra – 10-year-old Badra saved her friend who came close to losing her life on railway tracks in November 2018.

Purnima Giri (16) and Sabita Giri (15) – These girls hail from Odisha. They saved lives of many people when the boat in which they were travelling started to sink near Nipania Village. They jumped into the river risking their lives.

Aarti Kiran Shet: Nine-year-oldd Shet lives in Uttara Kannada. She saved her two-year-old brother from an attacking cow.

The other children who received the award are - Kanti Paikra and Bharneshwari Nirmala from Chhattisgarh, Zen Sadavarte and Akash Machindra Khillare from Maharashtra, Adithya K from Kerala, Alaika and Rakhi.

Indian Council for Child Welfare started the National Bravery Awards in 1957. A medal, certificate and cash were given to each awardee. The children who receive the award also receive financial assistance from philanthropists.
