Surat, January 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a three-day visit to Gujarat, met his mother Heeraben Modi in Gandhinagar on Saturday. Usually, the Prime Minister visits his mother on his birthday, but since he was in the state for the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, he visited his mother before leaving for Surat. The Prime Minister inaugurated the Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Armoured Systems Complex in Surat's Hazira and was seen riding a K-9 Vajra Self Propelled Howitzer there. He is also scheduled to lay the foundation stone for a medical college in Silvassa, the capital city of the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. On January 18, the Prime Minister inaugurated the ninth edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. The summit will be held at the Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar from January 18 to 20. During his address at the inauguration, the Prime Minister stated that India is poised to be placed among the top 50 countries in ease of doing business by 2020.

On the first day of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit on Friday, the Gujarat government signed around 130 MoUs with investment commitments worth over Rs 56,000 crore in various sectors. According to a report by PTI, a majority of the MoUs, also called Investment Intentions (IIs), were signed in the port and transport sector.
