Narendra Modi Lays Foundation Stone of National Centre for Aging at AIIMS, Project to Cost Rs 300 Crore

The Prime Minister said the National Centre for Aging will be built at a cost of Rs 300 crore was laid. According to reports, the ward, with around 200 beds centre, will provide Multi-Speciality healthcare to the older people.

New Delhi, June 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday laid the foundation stone for the National Centre for Aging at All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. In his address, the Prime Minister claimed his government has proposed and approved more numbers of AIIMS in the past four years than there had been in the last 70 years.

During his address, the Prime Minister said the government wants to provide the best healthcare to people at the lowest possible cost.  "Seeing the increasing pressure on AIIMS, we are increasing facilities at all of its campuses. Today foundation stone of National Centre for Aging, which will be built at a cost of Rs 300 crore was laid. This will have 200 beds to provide Multi-Speciality healthcare to the older people.

PM Modi inaugurated a tunnel connecting the main building to its trauma facility. Reports inform that the one-km long motorable tunnel will facilitate the transfer of the patients and their relatives, doctors, instruments and medicine between AIIMS, Ansari Nagar and Trauma Centre. The constriction of the Motorable Tunnel was started in 2012 and costs 40 crore rupees.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the 555 bed Super Speciality Block in Safdarjung Hospital. Reports inform that apart from this, he also dedicated 500 bedded New Emergency Block in Safdarjung and 300 bedded Power Grid Vishram Sadan in AIIMS.
