New Delhi, May 31: Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Union Cabinet on Friday hiked the National Defence Fund in its first meeting. Under the new decision, the scholarship amount for was hiked from Rs 2,250 to Rs 3,000/per month for daughters of police personnel and from Rs 2000 to Rs 2500/per month for sons of bravehearts who laid their lives for the nation in naxal attack.
The new policy has been finalised by PM Modi in the first Cabinet meeting and with this, the allocation of funds have also been finalised under ‘Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme’. According to the new decision, the scholarship amount is given to the wards of police personnel martyred in terror and Maoist attacks. Considering the fact that the 58-member newly formed Narendra Modi government has a focus on the education sector, this decision will make the wards and kin martyred police personnel happy. With this, Modo 2.0 government is trying to prove that it cares for the kin of martyred soldiers.
It is to be known that this was among the first thing that was in the priority list of Modi 2.0 government whose policy draft was already prepared in the previous NDA government in February.
