Narendra Dabholkar Murder Case: 'I Shot At Him Twice', Says Main Accused Sharad Kalaskar

New Delhi, June 27: A recent revelation in the Narendra Dabholkar murder case has left the nation in shock! Sharad Kalaskar, the man who has been accused of killing rationalist Dabholkar in Pune six years ago, has made some chilling confessions to the Karnataka police. Kalaskar said he shot Dabholkar twice, once in the head and once above the right eye. According to a report by NDTV, Kalaskar, during his confession, revealed how he shot the 67-year-old two times on August 20, 2013. The report further informs that in a 14-page confession, Kalaskar also admitted to being linked to two other murders -- that of Govind Pansare and Journalist Gauri Lankesh.
The killings of all the three in a similar manner had sent shock-waves throughout the nation. Dabholkar was shot dead on August 20, 2013 in Pune on the Onkareshwar Bridge in Pune. Following his murder, the suspects, Sharad Kasalkar and Sachin Paraksrao Andure were questioned by CBI. In its preliminary reports, the CBI had informed that the two suspects, who murdered Dabholkar, were sharpshooters. Till May 2019, the CBI has arrested six persons in connection with the murder case. In November 2018, the CBI had invoked terror charges against the accused. According to reports, Dabholkar's murder in Pune in August 2013 was followed by the shooting of Govind Pansare in February 2015 and MM Kalburgi in Kolhapur in August 2015.
Kalaskar, who was arrested in 2018, has been charged with murder and conspiracy and has been in jail since his arrest in connection with the Nallasopara Arms haul case in 2018. The Maharashtra Anti-Terror squad had arrested Kalaskar in connection with raids at a pistol manufacturing unit at Nallasopara in Palghar district. During the interrogation, the ATS established a link between the murders of the rationalists and Gauri Lankesh and right-wing groups.
