Narayan Sai Convicted In Rape Case, Surat Court To Pronounce Quantum of Sentence For Asaram's Son On April 30
Narayan Sai, self-styled godman and son of rape convict Asaram, was convicted on Friday by a Surat sessions court in a rape case.
Surat, April 26: Narayan Sai, self-styled godman and son of rape convict Asaram, was sentenced on Friday by a Surat sessions court in a rape case. Narayan Sai has been convicted of raping a female disciple in Surat 11 years ago. The quantum of sentence will be pronounced by the court on April 30. The case was filed by two sisters. While one of them accused Narayan Sai of raping her, the other had accused Asaram of the same. Four others have also been convicted in the case. Narayan Sai has been in jail since 2013. He went missing after charges were levelled against him in the said case. The police found him on the Delhi-Haryana border in 2013, after which he was taken into custody. At least 53 witnesses were presented in court in the case against Narayan Sai. He was also accused of bribing police officials in the case with Rs 13 crore and is on bail for the case.
Meanwhile, Asaram has been in Jodhpur jail, serving a life sentence in another rape case, in which he was convicted in April 2018. On April 2018, Asaram was given a life sentence under Section 6 of the POCSO Act, for raping a minor girl in Manai village near Jodhpur on August 15, 2013.
