Nagpur, December 18: Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) mayor Sandeep Joshi on Tuesday midnight had a narrow escape after two bike-borne miscreants fired three bullets at him while he was travelling in his car. The incident took place neat Wardha road in Maharashtra's Nagpur. Joshi, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporator, himself called up police officials and reported the incident. According to reports, Joshi was celebrating his wedding anniversary with around 30-40 friends in a Dhaba on Outer Ring Road. While returning back just before midnight, two bike-borne men came from behind and fired three bullets. Joshi, who was riding with his friend, was lucky to escape from bullets.

Joshi had received two threat letter in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation complaint boxes over removing encroachments, reported the Times of India. Meanwhile, a probe has been launched into the matter. Sandeep Joshi was sworn-in as NMC Mayor on November 22 after securing a majority of votes.
