Nagpur, September 24: The Lakadganj police have rescued a 14-year-old teenage boy from Nagpur in Mumbai after he stole 500 grams of gold from his maternal aunt's house reportedly for a sex-change surgery. The teenager stole the gold because he was aspiring to become like his maternal aunt who is a bar dancer. He was influenced by the lavish lifestyle of this profession, say reports. The boy took the extreme step after a female friend promised him that she will help him in getting the sex-change surgery done.
Senior police inspector Santosh Khandekar said, as quoted by Mumbai Mirror “The teenager has been shifted to a government shelter home. His intention to have sex change surfaced during investigations when his close friend confided with the cops about his aspirations of leading a rich lifestyle of a bar dancer in Mumbai."
Four persons– Imraan Shariff (24), Farookh Sheikh (24), Rehana Dhanawat (18) and Prashant Jangde (26), promised the teenager a sex-change surgery by tempting him to steal jewellery for the operation.
According to the police, the boy is in the eighth standard from a reputed school and ran away from home on August 8 with gold. The police have arrested all the four people on the grounds of inciting the minor for committing the crime.
Police have confiscated about 300 grams of gold, three cell phones and two-wheeler from the four accused.
The boy also stole his maternal uncle's cell phone as well, say reports. The boy was raised by his maternal uncle and aunt since his mother left him for living with another man.
