Mumbai, June 23: The Mumbai police on Saturday, June 22, arrested a man for allegedly killing his live-in partner in the Nagpada. Police officials said that the accused, Sirajuddhin Jamaluddhin Shaikh alias Chand, allegedly stabbed his live-in partner multiple times on June 12. The victim succumbed to her injuries on Friday, June 21. The incident came to light after the accused admitted the woman to BYL Nair Hospital in Mumbai Central.

According to a Hindustan Times report, the accused admitted his live-in partner to the hospital, claiming that she fell on a wooden plank. The deceased woman has been identified as Aarti Vijay Singh. Cops said that Singh was earlier married to a man from Amravati, with whom she had two kids. They also found that the woman lived with a man in Mumbai with whom she had four kids. This was followed by another man with whom she had one kid. They also learned that Singh was living with Shaikh around a year ago.

On June 12, the couple fought over a minor issue, following which Shaikh stabbed Singh multiple times. Later, he admitted Singh to Nair Hospital, allegedly claiming that she fell on a wooden plank and injured herself. Hospital officials told cops that they suspected that the woman was killed based on the injury marks on her stomach and right leg. Doctors said that the injury marks indicated that the woman was stabbed with a knife. Acting on the hospital's information, cops traced Shaikh after tracking his mobile location and arrested him for murder.
