Nageswar Rao Removed From CBI Additional Director Post, Appointed as DG of Fire Services, Civil Defence And Home Guard

In a sudden move, Mannem Nageswar Rao, Additional Director, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been appointed as the Director General (DG) of Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guard on Friday.

New Delhi, July 5: In a sudden move, Mannem Nageswar Rao, Additional Director, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been appointed as the Director General (DG) of Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guard on Friday. Rao came into limelight after he was an interim director after former CBI director Alok Verma's removal by the high-power selection panel headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Rao headed the interim Director position of CBI from January 11 to February 1 this year. He joined the central agency in 2016 as an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of 1986 batch. Rao is from Mangapet village of Telangana's Warangal district. Before joining the IPS, he was a chemistry post graduate from Osmania University, did his research from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. He is also a recipient of President's Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
