Kohima, January 23: The Nagaland government is planning to make provisions for salary cut of government employees in order to arrange funds for infrastructure projects in state, announced Chief Secretary Temjen Toy. However, the proposal has not been finalised yet, reported The Indian Express. The move is seen as a desperate measure by the Nagaland government in order to collect funds.

Toy also added that the Nagaland government had taken up the matter for discussion with the Centre. But he also explained the difficulty in implementing such a scheme.

Talking to the English daily, Toy made it clear that it would be difficult for the state to implement the plan as it would require a provision or amendment made in the Constitution.

However, the Chief Secretary added that the matter has been discussed with the BJP which is in alliance with the ruling NDPP. However, a review would be carried out before implementing such a scheme.
