Naga Baba Ravi Giri Maharaj Arrested by Delhi Police: Self Proclaimed Godman Accused of Sending Vulgar Messages to Woman
The woman, who is a lawyer, told police that the self-styled Godman had promised the lawyer's parents that he will find a suitable boy for her marriage but instead started calling her and sending her lewd messages.
New Delhi, July 8: Delhi police have arrested self-proclaimed Godman named Naga Baba Ravi Giri Maharaj on the charges of harassing a woman by sending her lewd messages. Ravi Giri was arrested after a female lawyer registered an FIR with the Hauz Qazi police station. The lady lawyer, who practices at the Tis Hazari Court has alleged the self-proclaimed saint or Baba of sending her lewd messages on phone and making vulgur calls despite repeated warnings of not to do so.
The victim told police that she got fed up after Ravi Giri refused to stop making the calls and continued sending her "lecherous" messages. Finally, she decided to get a complaint registered against the Baba, and went to Hauz Qazi police station.
The police registered a case against the self proclaimed saint or Baba under the following sections: 354, 506, 509 67 of the IT Act. The Delhi police today arrested him and he was sent to Tihar jail.
According to reports in media, Naga Baba or Ravi Giri Maharaj, as he was known in the public, has Aashrams in Muradabad, Alwar, Haridwar and even Rishikesh.
The lady lawyer who had been getting lewd messages from Ravi Giri told police that the Baba had promised the lawyer's parents that he will find a suitable boy for her marriage but instead started calling her and sending her lewd messages.
