N Sivaprasad, Senior TDP Leader Famous for Dressing Up in Different Avatars in Parliament, Dies at 68

According to reports, the TDP leader was suffering from a chronic kidney ailment and was undergoing treatment. The TDP in a statement said, “The party pays its tribute to TDP senior leader, former Member of Parliament, cine artist, director, Dr. N Siva Prasad. The TDP offers its deepest condolences to his family members.”

Chennai, September 21: N Sivaprasad, senior Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader and former Chittoor MP, breathed his last at Apollo Hospital in Chennai on Saturday. He was 68. According to reports, the TDP leader was suffering from a chronic kidney ailment and was in a critical condition and on life supporting for the last 10 days. The TDP in a statement said, “The party pays its tribute to TDP senior leader, former Member of Parliament, cine artist, director, Dr. N Siva Prasad. The TDP offers its deepest condolences to his family members.”

Naramalli Sivaprasad, popularly known as N Siva Prasad, was an actor turned politician. He was known for dressing himself up in many roles in protesting against the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh state. In the 2009 election he was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Chittoor constituency in Andhra Pradesh. He also protested by dressing himself up as B. R. TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu, expressed grief on Twitter and said the demise of his long-time friend, former MP, TDP leader, Dr. N Siva Prasad is upsetting. "The demise of my long-time friend, former MP, TDP leader, Dr. N Siva Prasad is upsetting. He had fought for achieving special status and several promises made in the bifurcation act. His death is a loss not only to Chittoor but entire Andhra Pradesh. I pray to God that his soul attains peace. Losing two leaders within a span of one week is an irrevocable loss to the party,” the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh tweeted.

Born on July 11, 1951 at Pottipalle village in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, the TDP leader pursued MBBS from SV Medical College in Tirupati.  Siva Prasad was a theater and film personality before joining politics.
