Patna, November 20: In another breakthrough in the Muzaffarpur Shelter Home case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), today, arrested ‘Saista Praveen’ alias Madhu. She was the manager of the NGO, which was running the shelter home. Earlier in the day, Former Bihar Social Welfare Minister Manju Verma surrendered before a Begusarai court, months after multiple summons and an arrest warrant was issued against her. Verma resigned from the post after her husband Chandrashekhar Verma was linked to the case.

According to reports, the CBI found 17 call transactions between Verma's husband and Brijesh Thakur, whose NGO Sewa Sankalp Evam Vikas Samiti managed the shelter home where 34 minor inmates were allegedly raped. Earlier this month, The Supreme Court rapped the government's counsel for failing to take Manju into custody, despite her anticipatory bail plea being rejected by the Patna High Court on October 9. The CBI, which was handed over the case in July. Bihar Chief Minister assured of taking stringent action against culprits. Thakur is lodged in Muzaffarpur jail after his arrest on June 2. Of the 42 girls staying at the shelter home run by an NGO of Thakur, 34 minor girls were found to have been sexually assaulted after the Mumbai's Tata Institute of Social Sciences, carried out a social audit.
