Mumbra Woman Caught for Chain Snatching on Mumbai Local, Posed As Office-Goer on Train
As per reports, the woman began the chain snatching crime since the last two years, but was, however, arrested by Thane Railway Police under Section 379 of the IPC.
Thane, October 15: With dreams to live a fancy lifestyle, a housewife from Mumbra took to chain snatching in the local trains in Mumbai. As per reports, the woman began the chain snatching crime since the last two years, but was, however, arrested by Thane Railway Police under Section 379 of the IPC. According to a report by TOI, the 28-year old accused was arrested by the Police recently before she could target her next victim. The report informs that the woman lives in a middle-class society in Mumbra and took to chain snatching to mint quick money.
The woman used to pose as an office-goer and board crowded trains and conveniently whisk the ornaments. The Police scanned CCTV footages that from other stations where such crimes were committed and then laid a trap to nab the culprit. Reports inform that her husband, who works in Dubai, refused to entertain her demands an this forced her to get herself into the chain snatching business. The woman, who loved to flaunt good clothes and ornaments, told the police that her husband used to send money which was only enough to meet their daily needs and the education of her kids. She states that the money was, however, not enough for her and so she took to the crime.
The woman stole the ornaments and sold it to her aide in Mumbra who runs a small-time jewellery shop. We have recovered nearly Rs 1.35 lakh worth ornaments. Rajendra Shirtode, a senior inspector with the Thane railway police said the woman told that she has been carrying out chain snatchings since the last two years and she picked up the nuances from another woman who used to carry out such activities on the Western line. Following rising complaints of chain snatching from commuters in the local train, the police laid a trap for her, and finally arrested the accused.
