The burglar known as the “Spider-Man thief” fell from the second floor of a building in Borivali while attempting to escape after committing theft. The fall resulted in the burglar breaking two teeth and fracturing one leg. Four months later, the MHB Colony police apprehended the accused, with the help of his two broken teeth discovered at the crime scene. The arrested suspect has been identified as Rohit Rathod, aged 29.
As per the Mid-Day report, Rathod, a habitual offender with 19 burglary cases to his name, was arrested at his residence in Dahisar by the MHB Colony police. While probing the matter, the police searched over 400 hospitals in the city and its vicinity before finally nabbing Rathod. The arrest helped solve two burglary cases that he had committed in the jurisdiction of the MHB Colony police station. Rathod has been arrested by multiple police stations, including DN Nagar, Kandivali, Borivali, Vakola, Santacruz, Dahisar, Kasturba Marg, and others. How Did He Lose His Teeth?
On June 22, a robbery took place in a flat located on the second floor of Arpita Apartment on Rajaram Tavde Road in Mahatrewadi, Dahisar West. The accused managed to escape by jumping out of a kitchen window after being noticed by a 32-year-old resident who alerted other household members. The complainant reported the incident to the police, according to an officer from MHB Colony police station. The police started analysing the CCTV footage.
How Did Police Traced Him?
The suspect’s face was not visible in the CCTV footage due to the darkness. Despite forming various teams and checking numerous hospitals in the suburb, no clues emerged. A constable from the police station was assigned the responsibility of visiting different hospitals in the city daily to search for him. Last week, the constable located him in a hospital in Vakola, where he was receiving treatment. The police kept him under surveillance, and as soon as he returned home after being discharged, he was arrested, according to an officer from MHB Colony police station. The report said two broken teeth and bloodstains were discovered within the building premises. The accused was seen falling from the building in the CCTV footage, which led to his injuries. His teeth broke and fell to the ground, and one of his legs was fractured.
