Mumbai: Woman, Who Was Duped, Visits Same ATM Everyday for 17 Days, Nabs Culprit

The victim, who was duped on December 18, visited the same ATM for 17 days to nab the culprit.

Mumbai, January 10: A woman in Mumbai managed to get hold of a man days after he duped her at an ATM near her office in Bandra. The victim, who was duped on December 18, visited the same ATM for 17 days to nab the culprit. According to a report by Hindustan Times, a 35-year-old woman, Rehana Shaikh, who was cheated by a 36-year-old conman laid a trap there for over two weeks. The report further informs that the man has seven cases registered against him at various police stations for duping people. According to details by Bandra Police, the incident took place on December 18, when the victim, a Wadala resident, got down from the train at Bandra and go to her office at Pali Hill.

On her way to work she went to the ATM adjoining the railway station but was unable to withdraw cash due to a technical glitch. While she tried withdrawing money, the accused was waiting outside the door. Seeing the woman struggling at the ATM, he offered to help Shaikh and got all the details of the woman’s debit card. The report states that by the time the woman reached her workplace, she received a message that Rs 10,000 has been withdrawn from her account. Soon after Shaikh rushed to the ATM, but could not trace the accused. She kept going to the same ATM for around 17 days and waited for the man to cross the area. It was on January 4, Shaikh noticed the man outside the same ATM and caught him there and called the police.
