Mumbai: Woman Travelling in Local Train From Nerul Delivers Baby at Panvel Railway Station

According to a tweet by ANI, the baby was delivered with the help of a doctor of Railway's One Rupee Clinic and the railway staff. Reports inform that the mother and the child are healthy and have been shifted to a hospital.

Mumbai, November 21: A woman passenger, travelling from Nerul to Panvel in a local train in Mumbai, gave birth to a child at Panvel railway station in Navi Mumbai on Thursday morning. According to a tweet by ANI, the baby was delivered with the help of a doctor of Railway's One Rupee Clinic and the railway staff. Reports inform that the mother and the child are healthy and have been shifted to a hospital.

In the last month, a 29-year-old woman travelling to Mumbai in a local train gave birth to a baby boy in a clinic at Thane railway station on the Central Line. To provide passenger-friendly facilities to its commuters, the Central Railway sometime back introduced the concept of such clinics at its major stations where doctors provide consultation at a meager charge of Re 1. There have been many incidences in the past where women have delivered babies at railway stations across the city. In April, a 20-year-old woman travelling to Mumbai in a long-distance train gave birth to a baby at a clinic in Thane railway station.
