Mumbai, December 11: In a bizarre incident, a woman commuter in Mumbai was arrested for tearing off a young girl’s shirt after a fight in the local train. Reports inform that the woman, a fisherwoman by profession, tore the teen’s shirt while she was on her way to her college on Monday. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the woman has been arrested on charges of molestation. The incident took place at Kandivali railway station in Mumbai on Monday morning.

The HT report states that the accused, identified as Jyoti Sharma, was also trying to alight the train and pushed the complainant (the college girl). The teen claimed that her body was exposed in public due to the incident. Following the incident, the 20-year-old screamed for help and the accused started running away after threatening to beat up the complainant. Sharma, the accused, was caught her outside the railway station. The incident came to light after the complainant registered a case in connection with the molestation. According to Borivili government railway police (GRP), the complainant, a resident of Malad, was on her way to college around 8am when the incident occurred. The report states that Sharma has been arrested under sections 354 (criminal force on a woman outraging her modesty), 323 (causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult) and 506 (intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
