Berlin, September 26: A marathon runner from Mumbai has set a record for the ‘Fastest Marathoner in a Sari’ in Berlin. Kranti Salvi participated in Berlin marathon wearing a 'nauvari' sari. Kranti P Salvi, with a time of 03:57:07, broke the record for Fastest marathoner dressed in a sari, which was almost an hour less than the previous record of 04:45:30, set by Jayanthi Sampathkumar. The Berlin marathon was like a world platform with more than 150 nationalities and over 50,000 participants.

Kranti, after coming back to Mumbai, was overwhelmed by the good wishes she got from her well-wishers.“It was like doing another marathon of phone calls and interviews after I landed. The best part is, right at the airport itself, I was greeted by an immigration officer who knew of the achievement. I feel blessed and humbled to receive such recognition,” she said as quoted by TOI.

Previously, a marathoner from Mumbai ran the Bali marathon in a dhoti. Mumbai based businessman Praful Savant ran a 10k international marathon in Bali wearing the traditional Marathi attire.
