Mumbai: Woman Pillion Rider, Returning Home With Husband After Temple Visit Dies As Her Dupatta Gets Entangled in Bike's Rear Wheel in Vasai

Soon after her dupatta got entangled, Yadav fell off the bike and was allegedly dragged by her the two-wheeler for a second before the bike came to a halt. Although Yadav was rushed to a hospital nearby, she was declared dead before admission.

Mumbai, August 22: In an unfortunate incident in Vasai, a 27-year-old woman riding a pillion allegedly lost her life after her dupatta got entangled in the rear wheel of the two-wheeler. As a result, the woman fell on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad national highway at Naigaon. The alleged incident took place on Sunday, August 20. The police have registered a case of accidental death concerning the matter.

The deceased has been identified as Pratima Yadav (27). According to a report in the Times of India, Yadav and her husband Manishkumar, both residents of Kandivli, visited the Tungareshwar temple in Vasai on Sunday morning. Soon after her dupatta got entangled, Yadav fell off the bike and was allegedly dragged by her the two-wheeler for a second before the bike came to a halt. Although Yadav was rushed to a hospital nearby, she was declared dead before admission. This is the second instance of a woman riding a pillion, falling off a bike in the city.

In a similar incident on August 9, a woman named Pooja Gupta, who was riding a pillion, fell off the motorbike on a potholed road on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad national highway in Naigaon. The woman later succumbed to her injuries on Friday. Gupta's brother-in-law Deepak Gupta (24), who was riding the bike at the time of the incident, blamed the potholes on the road for losing control of the two-wheeler. Mumbai: Two Flung into Air, Crash into Tree After Bike Crash, Killed.

While Deepak somehow managed to control the bike and escape unhurt, Pooja lost her balance and fell on the road, thus sustaining injuries to her head. Although she was undergoing treatment, she breathed her last on August 18.
