Mumbai, February 17: In a shocking case reported from Mumbai, a 30-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly abetting the sexual advance of her minor daughter by her lover. The woman was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and her bail plea was rejected by a special court this week, reported The Times of India. According to the TOI report, the woman's husband is having a mental illness. Taking advantage of this, she was having an illicit affair. The 12-year-old girl told police that her mother used to give sleeping pills to her father and used to visit the paramour. The minor alleged that the accused used to touch her inappropriately and show porn videos. Later, the girl told about the issue to her grandmother and other relatives, acting on which they filed a police complaint, reported TOI. Following the FIR, woman and her paramour were arrested on February 10, 2019. The woman alleged that she had been falsely charged in the case and she is not involved or committed any crime.
Meanwhile, the court refused the bail plea saying that she is equally responsible as she failed to file a police complaint. The prosecutor said if released on bail, there is a possibility that accused can threaten the witness and tamper the evidence.
