Mumbai, December 19: A 42-year-old woman in Mumbai allegedly assaulted a male police inspector at Amboli police station on the night of December 8, 2018. The woman, who is said to be a model, attacked the officer over an argument she had with the officer when she had come to complain on a civil issue. Reportedly, the woman lost her cool after the inspector told her that police does not intervene in civil matters. A report in English daily mid-day said that the woman is a repeat offender and is known for her hostility towards cops.
So much so that the police stations in suburbs dread a visit from the lady. The woman, named Reshma Malik, had visited the Amboli police station to lodge a complaint but when the inspector tried to explain her that it would not be possible to register her case, she started abusing the inspector.
Malik quickly turned violent. According to the report, she "pounced" on the inspector, grabbing his collar and pinned the officer down. There were two women constables in the inspector's cabin who had accompanied the Malik to officer's cabin, as is the rule. Malik even threatened them not to intervene.
When the women police constables tried to get Malik away from the police inspector, she injured two lady constables too. Finally, it took five women constables to overpower Malik.
The police then took her to Jogeshwari Trauma centre for a medical check-up. A senior inspector commented that Malik seems to be mentally unsound and has a history of abusing cops. Malik threatened doctors at the hospital too, who tried to conduct the medical test.
Till the time the high-voltage drama ended, it was already evening. And as per rule, no woman can be made to wait in the police station in the night. Hence the police went to Oshiwara police station to get a case registered against Reshma Malik. The Oshiwara police has formed two teams to investigate the case , but she has not been arrested yet.
