Mumbai, August 23: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has scheduled a water supply cut in Mumbai's M/East and M/West areas from August 24 to 25, lasting until 10 am. The M/West zone includes Chembur, while the M/East zone encompasses Mankhurd, Deonar, and Shivaji Nagar regions. The civic body is undertaking a Mumbai water cut in a bid to carry out repair works.

According to the BMC officials, the municipal corporation has initiated repairs at the Trombay High-Level Reservoir. Additionally, the BMC has planned to replenish water using a 1,800 mm inlet between Thursday and Friday. The Trombay High-Level Reservoir is located in Anushakti Nagar, Chembur. The BMC has released a list of areas where the full water cutoff will be implemented. Officials have urged residents in the affected wards to ensure an adequate water reserve before the supply suspension takes effect. A bulletin released by the civic body also calls for residents' collaboration in practising water conservation during the duration of the supply interruption.

Meanwhile, the water supply in the H West ward of the BMC, comprising areas like Khar Danda, was affected due to a water pipeline damage on Tuesday. “Pipe damaged at Mohammed Rafi Chowk; Bandra West during Metro Rail work is under repair. Water supply to Khar Danda, Gazdarbandh, Dand pada, and parts of Khar delayed,” BMCs H West ward said on Twitter, Now X. In a sigh of relief, the collective water stock in the seven reservoirs that supply drinking water to Mumbai is now 83.72 percent, the BMC said in a statement.
