Mumbai, June 2: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has embarked on a major overhaul of the city's ageing water infrastructure. As part of the upgrade, officials have announced a temporary suspension of water supply in several areas within the G South ward.

The suspension is scheduled for June 6 and 7, during which water channels Tansa (East) and Tansa (West), each with a diameter of 1,450 mm, will undergo critical repair work at the racecourse. Residents are advised to manage their water usage prudently throughout the disruption. In a preemptive move to conserve the city's water reserves, the BMC has also declared a city-wide reduction in water consumption. Starting May 30, 2024, there will be a 5% cutback, followed by an additional 10% decrease commencing June 5, 2024. These measures are aimed at averting the exhaustion of Mumbai's reservoirs and ensuring a sustained water supply.
