Mumbai, March 1: A Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) was suspended and booked after he allegedly made obscene gestures and tried to strip in front of a woman passenger. The incident took place on the Chennai-Dadar Express early on Thursday. The accused, identified as HS Meena, is absconding. He works for Central Railway and is posted at the CSMT headquarters.

According to the complainant, a 40-year-old woman from Chennai, she was travelling in S-8 coach of the Chennai-Dadar Express. She has a reserved ticket and started her journey on Wednesday night. She was coming to Mumbai to visit her ailing father, admitted in Sion hospital. Meena came to check her ticket around 2:15 am. She produced it along with her identity proof.

Around 15 minutes later, the accused came back and sat on the seat in front of the woman. He then started making obscene gestures. "When he began to strip, the terrified woman dialled her Andheri-based brother-in-law's number. Her nephew received the call and assured he would do something to help her," a police officer told TOI. He approached the RPF who then alerted personnel on escorting duty.

However, by the time security personnel reached the woman, Meena had fled. They checked all coaches but could not find the accused. The woman finally lodged a formal complaint after alighting at Dadar Terminus. Meena has been booked under section 509 of IPC.
