Mumbai: Transgender Molests Minor Girl at Home in Kandivali, Gets Arrested Within Hour of Crime

Mumbai, Sept 21: The Mumbai Police on Friday arrested a transgender in Kandivali for allegedly molesting a minor girl at a her home. The incident was reported from Charkop region in Kandivali West. The accused was arrested within an hour of the crime.

Pramod Dhaware, senior police inspector of Charkop police, told reporters that the accused had went to the victim's house to give blessings in lieu of alms. The victim, horrified after being allegedly molested, narrated the ordeal after the transgender left. Her mother immediately approached the Charkop police station and filed the complaint.

Using the CCTV footages available, the police was able to trace and apprehend the accused from the same locality. The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code related to molestation.

The incident comes in the backdrop of another startling case of molestation in the city. On Thursday, the police arrested a Mankhurd man for allegedly molesting a 26-year-old Manipuri student, travelling with her European college, between Vashi and Govandi stations. The accused, identified as Abdul Sattar Qureshi, was nabbed from Kurla railway station and booked under IPC section 354, which pertains to molestation.
