Mumbai, June 24: In an unfortunate incident in Mumbai, a city-based hotelier was allegedly killed after an anvil (a metal object) flung off a truck and hit him in Bandra. The shocking incident occurred in the wee hours of Sunday, June 23, when the deceased man, identified as Vijay Asrani (40), was out for his moring walk. Cops said that the metal object struck Asrani on the head after it flung off a truck on Turner Road in Bandra West.

According to news reports, the alleged incident occurred when the speeding truck carrying metal objects lost control and hit a tree on Perry Cross Road off Turner Road. The impact of the accident was such that the anvil (metal object) dislodged and fell on Asrani, who was on his morning walk. Hotelier Struck by Metal Block in Bandra

Meanwhile, the police arrested the truck driver, Manjur Alam Ansari, for negligent driving. Cops said that the truck was carrying iron material for the coastal road work in Bandra. Asrani's family learned about his death from the police. He is survived by his aged parents. Asrani's friends reached the hospital after learning about his death.

Victim Declared Dead on Arrival

The police have registered an FIR in connection with the incident based on the information given by Asrani’s relative, Shoven Shah. Shah said he received a call from the police, who informed him of the accident. When he reached the police station, he was informed about Asrani's death. Locals who witnessed the accident quickly informed the police. The night police patrolling team then reached the spot and rushed Asrani to the hospital. The police have sent Ansari's blood samples for analysis to determine if he was driving under the influence of alcohol. The accused driver was produced before the Bandra court on the same day and remanded to police custody.
