Mumbai Traffic Advisory For Sunday: Ghatkopar, Pant Nagar ROB Closed and Gokhale Flyover in Andheri Open Only For Light Vehicles, Here Are Alternate Routes
As per details available, the bridge has developed cracks and has been shut to avoid any untoward accident. The ROB bridge is an important route for two-wheeler and vehicles connecting Ghatkopar East and West.
Mumbai, July 8: The Ghatkopar Road Over Bridge (ROB) which was shut for pedestrians and vehicle movements from Sunday, has now been reopened. As per details by former corporator of Ghatkopar, Pravin Chedda who belongs to the Congress party, the bridge has developed cracks and has been shut to avoid any untoward accident. The ROB bridge is an important route for two-wheeler and vehicles connecting Ghatkopar East and West.
According to an advisory issued by Mumbai Police, the north-bound of Gokhale flyover is opened for traffic only for Light Motor Vehicles. Meanwhile, the north-bound is converted into south & north-bound means commuters can travel from east & West simultaneously.
“Gokhale Bridge has been opened (North Bound) for traffic only for Light Motor Vehicles to travel in both directions. Heavy vehicles can either use the Milan Flyover, Vile Parle OR Thakre flyover, Jogeshwari”, Mumbai Police Tweeted on Sunday.
Here are the alternate routes:
- Heavy vehicles shall either follow Milan Flyover parla OR Thakre flyover Jogeshwari.
- Commuters travelling from International Airport are advised to take U Turn below Centaur flyover before Parla junction - to north bound WEH - Bisleri Junction - Teli Galli - Gokhale Flyover- SV road.
- Commuters travelling from Sahar road /Andheri East - Bahar junction- right turn - Bisaleri junction -Teli Galli - Gokhale Flyover- SV road.
- Commuters are requested to use other alternative routes such as Milan flyover/Milan subway/ Andheri subway/ Captain Gore bridge / Mrunal tai Gore flyover / Takrey flyover Jogeshwari as only North bound of Gokhale bridge is available for two- way traffic.
Alternate routes have been announced for people coming at Shreyas Cinema signal. It must be noted that heavy vehicles are banned on Gokhale flyover. A few days ago in a similar mishap, parts of Andheri ROB collapsed which claimed one life and left four people injured. To avoid any such incident, the Ghatkopar ROB has been shut as a precautionary measure.
Also, as incessant rains have lashed Mumbai and adjoining areas, water-logging has been reported in several parts. In the last 24, the city has received around 55 mm rainfall while Eastern and Western Suburbs received 133 and 112 mm rainfall.
