Mumbai, October 14: A journalist working with Times Now news channel was attacked by four unidentified miscreants near Gamdevi police station in the wee hours of Sunday. The journalist, Herman Gomes, wrote a Facebook post in which he described how the attack took place when he was returning to his home with a friend. Herman said the attackers wanted to kill him.

"Tonight while returning with my friend Cavell D'costa, I was attacked by an unknown group of people right outside my Bombay House. It was clearly pre-planned. They were armed with a knuckle duster," Herman wrote on Facebook. An FIR was registered at Gamdevi police station. A senior IPS officer is probing the case, he said.

“I was attacked by four people out of nowhere. You can see my condition. I have got six stitches on my right eye. All I can say is, these people were waiting for me for a long time. It was not a last-minute provocation. They stood ready for the attack. They thrashed my friend as well and took away his mobile phone,” Herman told news agency ANI.

He said he didn't know whether the attackers were upset over any of his story. "I always mind my own business and do stories that I firmly Believe in. Last night was something different, and they came out to KILL me.... I don't know which story affected people so much," he said in the Facebook post.
