Tardeo, June 21: In a yet another case, a 35-year-old police constable was arrested on Thursday for sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl in Mumbai. The constable, posted at Tardeo's local arms unit, was booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POSCO). According to a report, on Monday afternoon when the minor was alone at her place, the accused invited her to his residence by offering chocolates. Soon after that, the girl was sexually assaulted, said senior officer of Wadala Police station, Gangadhar Sonawane. The crime came to light when the minor narrated the incident to her parents who filed a police complaint. Based on the complaint, Sanjay was arrested from Tardeo on Thursday and later he was produced in Sewri court and sent to the police custody till Monday. Meanwhile, an investigation is underway into the matter.

This is not the first complaint against the constable, earlier when he was posted in Trombay police station, he was accused of stalking a woman. The woman had complained to senior cops who initiated inquiry against him. The accused was transferred to Tardeo local arms unit as punishment after he slapped a senior official following an argument.
