Mumbai, January 16: In a startling seizure from Thane, the officers from Kalyan Crime Branch have confiscated over 100 weapons -- which could be used for fatal purpose -- from a shop run by a BJP leader in Dombivali. A probe has been launched by the police department to investigate the reason why the weapons were stocked by him in such large numbers.

The raid was carried out by Crime Branch officers on Tuesday evening. The shop, Tapasya House of Fashion, is located in Manpada Road area. Among the weapons seized by the police, include button chopper, swords, machetes, knives and axe. Raj Thackeray Warns of Plan to Incite Hindu-Muslim Riots on Ram Temple Issue With Help of Owaisi.

The shop owner, BJP's Dombivali unit vice president Dhananjay Kulkarni, has been arrested and sent to judicial custody. The investigating officials were expected to interrogate him today to ascertain the reason why he had piled up the stock of weapons at his shop.

The local leaders of the Congress and the National Congress Party (NCP) have demanded the police to conduct a high-level probe, alleging that the accused BJP leader could be preparing for violence in the region to polarise the electorate on communal lines ahead of the upcoming elections.

The top brass of NCP has petitioned Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, demanding him to monitor the case and take stringent action against all those involved.
