Earlier in June, two persons were apprehended by immigration officials at the international airport for attempting to travel using fake documents. The duo had acquired passports by submitting fraudulent paperwork and had misrepresented their ages with the intention of securing employment in Gulf countries. One of the passengers, SS Shaikh from Murshidabad, West Bengal, presented his passport, Qatar visa documents, boarding pass, and flight ticket at the immigration counter. The officials noticed a discrepancy between the age stated in his passport and his physical appearance. During questioning, Shaikh admitted that he had submitted forged documents as he desired to work in the Gulf country last year when he was below 21 years of age.
