Mumbai, Sep 26: In what is believed to be a clear case of fraud, seven partners of Mandar Associates have been booked by Arnala coastal police for allegedly duping people and selling one flat to several buyers. Out of the many buyers of the flats is famous singer Anuradha Paudwal. According to reports, all the seven accused are absconding and two of the accused have been identified as Raju Sulere and Avinash Dhole amongst five other partners. Reports inform that the five partners own the firm, Om Mandar Realtors, in Bolinj, Virar. The accused have been booked for cheating under the Maharashtra Protection of Interests of Depositors Act.

Paudwal along with at least six prospective flat buyers on Monday filed a cheating case against a Virar builder. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the partners of Mandar Associates have been accused of cheating Paudwal and another buyer of over Rs 70 lakh. A case has been registered under Section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code and also Section 3, 4 of the Maharashtra Protection of Interests of Depositors Act, 1999 against the accused. Anuradha Paudwal was quoted in the report that she had booked two flats as an investment plan in 2013 and since then, the builders have been cheated her. Police said the accused are on the run. In her complaint, Paudwal alleged that the builder had sold the same flat to more than one person. Soon, Builders May Lose MHADA Contract if Project is Delayed.

The report further states that the partners had promised posh flats in seven-storey structures. Lured by the amazing facilities, many investors put money in the project, which promised amenities like swimming pool, gymnasium and a joggers' park.

Jayant Bajbale, deputy superintendent, Virar was quoted by HT saying that the investors had booked flats in Mandar Avenue, F1 group of buildings in Narangi, Virar and were promised posh amenities like swimming pool, gymnasium and a park. Bajbale further added saying that the builders had promised flats at cheap rates near Arnala Beach and many investors fell for it, including Paudwal.
