Borivali, January 5: In a shocking incident, a tribal man attacked a teenage girl for allegedly turning down his proposal in Palghar. The 20-year-old accused has been arrested on charges of attempt to murder for slashing an 18-year-old girl training for police recruitment in Kasa village. According to the report published in the Times of India, the accused, identified as Suraj Dangde, was stalking Poonam Bhamte for over 5 months. The incident took place on December 29 when the accused intercepted Bhamte when she was on her way to the training academy. The accused proposed to her but the girl turned him down. An argument broke out between the two. Enraged, the accused pulled out the chopper he had brought with him and attacked the girl on her head, cheeks, and back. The woman was rushed to a government hospital and later moved to Silvassa, where her condition is said to be stable. According to the reports, the accused had also proposed to the girl five months ago but the girl had rejected him then. A complaint was registered against the accused at the local police station. On the basis of the complaint, the cops booked the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The accused was later picked up from his house.
