Mumbai, October 24: In a shocking incident in Mumbai, an elderly woman allegedly bit a woman police constable in Bandra. The incident took place on Saturday, October 21, when the police team arrived at the woman's residence in Bandra to pacify her after she objected to a building resident not allowing them to carry out the building's lift maintenance and closed-circuit television (CCTV) work.

The woman has been identified as Medha Jaffery. According to a report in the Times of India, the incident occurred at The Modern Park View Society in Bandra (West) when the suspect created a ruckus. While cops were trying to pacify Jaffery, she allegedly bit one of the women constables. Acting on police constable Rekha Awhad's (44) complaint, the police lodged a complaint against Jaffery. In her complaint, Awhad said she was bitten by the senior citizen when she tried to make her understand the reason to carry out the lift maintenance in her society.

"The lift maintenance work was in process after the registrar sanctioned the society to carry it out. However, Jaffery was against the maintenance work. The reason for her objection is unknown," senior inspector Sanjay Marathe said. Constable Rekha Awhad said that Jaffery was abusive upon seeing the cops. While no arrest has been made so far, the police have served a notice to Jaffery for objecting to society's work and abusing and biting a police constable. An officer said that if the woman fails to appear before them, further action will be taken against her.
